Statement of Faith, Core Beliefs, and Counseling Philosophy
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe all Scripture is divinely inspired, inerrant, and the final authority concerning truth.
We believe God creates each person as male or female, two distinct, complementary genders.
We believe God originally created mankind in His perfect image but man fell into sin.
We believe in the doctrine of original sin.
We believe God offers mercy and forgiveness for people’s sin and restoration.
We believe God’s mercy and forgiveness is found through Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We believe every person should be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.
We believe hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes towards others violate scripture.
CORE BELIEFS
Christian View of Knowledge: As Creator of the Universe God knows all things. As a part of creation man does not conceive things originally, but discovers it in reference to the God who originally conceived it. Christ is the point of contact between God and man, and through this contact the Holy Spirit imparts knowledge to man. To reject Christ is to reject knowledge. Christian View of Ethics: God alone is the standard of what is right and wrong, true and false. There is no ethical standard that is above or alongside God. God’s character is the basis for all ethical judgments. It is His Holy Scripture alone that reveals ethical standards and makes ethical judgments possible.
COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY
Every person experiences times when a counselor is needed to offer a fresh perspective, a reframing of the past, an objective viewpoint, or encouragement in a new direction. This type of counseling should be grounded in a biblical worldview that is integrated with aspects of well-accepted modern psychology compatible with that biblical worldview.
